Mortgage Rates the Lowest in Over a Year

You may have seen the news that mortgage interest rates recently again dropped dramatically and are now the lowest since September 2024. The Freddie Mac website currently lists the 30-year fixed rate at 6.19% (with a regularly documented, tax return loan), and 15-year fixed is even at 5.44%.

Dips in interest rates happen periodically but usually last only about a week or so before they move to higher territory. This current drop really started on October 16, so it has already been with us for 11 days and it looks at the moment like it’s going to continue.

I am getting lots of request for refinancing and purchase quotes from existing and new clients at the moment, but there is always room for more!
